Ultrasonic assisted drilling is a promising method for processing hard, brittle and ductile materials. It is used to manufacture parts with high-precision features, including optical, dental and electronic products. The evaluation of cutting force is very important because it directly affects the power consumption, tool life, dimensional accuracy and surface integrity of the machined parts.
In the drilling process of NiTi based superalloy and other modern aviation materials, there are many problems, such as tool exit burr, tool stress, high heating of tool surface, low process reliability and so on. Recently, a promising way to overcome these technical limitations is to use ultrasonic assistance, in which high-frequency and low amplitude vibrations are superimposed on the tool motion. Compared with the roundness, cylindricity, surface roughness and hole size of conventional drilling workpieces, the application of ultrasonic vibration can significantly improve the hole quality and achieve up to 60% improvement.
In recent years, titanium alloys have been widely used in aerospace and other fields due to their superior properties. However, the high hardness and brittleness of titanium alloy, especially the low thermal conductivity and strong chemical affinity, make it more difficult to process metal materials. Because the aerospace industry needs a large number of high-precision holes, the research on its machining technology has attracted much attention. Ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling technology is very suitable for drilling hard and brittle materials.
Working frequency | 20KHz |

Ultrasonic assisted machining can process surfaces of various shapes such as planes and grooves. It is used in ultrasonic milling, cutting, grinding and other machining.
1.The drilling force, surface roughness and burr size of ultrasonic assisted drilling are lower than those of conventional drilling.
2.Ultrasonic assisted drilling is superior to traditional drilling technology in reducing thrust and torque, reducing burr height, improving surface roughness and hole accuracy.
3.Ultrasonic assisted milling and drilling will not change the chemical structure of the multi-mentioned ingredients.
