The sonotrodes conduct the ultrasonic oscillation into the workpiece. We individually tailor-make the sonotrodes for the respective application and to meet customer requirements and use the Finite Element Method (FEM) for their development.
The design of the sonotrodes depends on the ultrasonics application (welding, cut&seal, riveting, embossing and cutting) and the properties of the workpiece being machined.
Sonotrodes made from aluminium, titanium or steel; application-specific surface treatments and coatings possible.
Different designs: round, blade, block, fakir, pin and composite sonotrodes.
Different welding objects need different sonotrodes, whether it is near-field welding or transmission welding, only half-wavelength sonotrode.
In order to make the welding end face reach the maximum amplitude. Sonotrodes are available with and without amplitude amplification. Plastic welding machine acoustic system sonotrodes are usually made of aluminum alloy, and the end surface is plated with cemented carbide. Titanium alloy materials can also be used when the power is high. As a result, the fatigue strength of the material is more than twice that of aluminum alloy.

Steel:
Advantages: high hardness, high wear resistance, long use time, high stability.
The disadvantage is that the ultrasonic transmission rate is relatively low and the acoustic impedance is large. In order to ensure the ultrasonic transmission effect, it is not suitable for the large sonotrode. The unit diameter of the round mold can not exceed 11.5cm in general.
Aluminum alloy:
Advantages: light weight, low density;
High ultrasonic transmission rate, suitable for the large sonotrode;
Hardness is not high, sonotrode can achieve more complex grain carving, processing cost is relatively low.
And its disadvantage is wear-resisting degree is not high, easy to wear.
Therefore, the aluminum alloy ultrasonic sonotrode is suitable for suture, welding and other non-continuous high strength friction operations, the ultrasonic wave strength is high, the surface of the sonotrode needs to be carved and other situations, suitable for aluminum alloy ultrasonic sonotrode.
Titanium alloy:
It has the advantages of high hardness, good wear resistance, fast heat dissipation, light weight and small density. When ultrasonic wave is emitted with the same power, the ultrasonic transmission rate of the same volume mold is higher than that of the steel sonotrode.
It can be said that titanium sonotrode integrates many advantages of steel mold and aluminum sonotrode.
Combined with continuous vibration ultrasonic machine use, higher bremsstrahlung, good heat conduction, high hardness, long service time, but the cost is a little more expensive.
1. Wear resistance
2. Long service life
3. Better heat dissipation than steel
4. In good heat resistance, can be used in a wide range of temperature with long life and high reliability.
