Negative pressure will only appear in the ultrasonic cleaner cleaning liquid when the amplitude of the alternating sound pressure exceeds the static pressure of the liquid. The negative pressure must exceed the strength of the liquid to produce cavitation. The lowest sound intensity or sound pressure amplitude at which cavitation occurs in a liquid is called the cavitation threshold. Various liquids have different cavitation thresholds, and the sound intensity in the ultrasonic cleaning tank must be higher than the cavitation threshold to produce ultrasonic cavitation.
